Crosspeel measures whether independently branded machine-payable API endpoints are actually independent.
It pays each endpoint, records what comes back, and compares the records. Endpoints that share an origin agree on details their operators never thought to vary - the wording of an error, the order of the keys, the issuer of the certificate, the way a date is written. Where those agreements hold and the prices differ, the finding is published with its evidence attached and the operators are invited to dispute it.
Crosspeel does not observe ownership, contracts, or intent. It observes responses. What the method cannot see is published at /method, next to what it can.
Who operates it
I ran a long-short equity fund for two years and wound it down in August 2026. It closed up on the year and it closed anyway, because the assets under management never reached the size where the arithmetic worked. What stayed with me was the data bill. Four vendors, four invoices, and no way to tell from the outside how many sources I was actually paying for. Crosspeel is that question asked again in a market where the buyer is software, the invoices are fractions of a cent, and nobody is reading them at all.
How it is funded
Crosspeel is funded by Bakeoff fees and MCP call fees. There is no advertising, no sponsorship, and no paid placement.
No endpoint can pay to be listed, delisted, ranked, or unranked. There is no mechanism to do so and there will not be one.
